Unity

Hi all, I hope you don’t mind but today’s post is a little different from usual because I felt like I wanted to say something regarding recent news. Note: These are just my thoughts on recent news and there is no intention to offend anyone.

Recently, particularly in the past few days, the news has been congested with stories of violence, suffering and pain. In today’s society we constantly shout about equality yet in practice discrimination is still very much alive. It’s alive in our schools, in the workplace and recently illustrated on our streets. In light of the recent attack in Orlando and the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile I believe we must use the power of speech to speak for speechless to bring about action to prevent such injustice.

No life is more worthy than another, which is why we must unite as a human race to protect one and other from brutalism. Protection from such acts can only be achieved through unity and what many fail to realise is that without one and other we cannot survive. We are haunted by stories in the media and sit in disbelief because we forget that  discrimination exists even today in our modern society. We can pray and wish and hope for change but it will only ever come about through speaking up and taking action.

Gender, skin colour, sexual orientation, religion or any other factor should not segregate humanity and regardless of these factors we should stand together as one. I believe that love is around and within us but has become shadowed by hatred. This needs to be reversed by education and understanding which can only be done by coming together. I urge you to use the power of speech to fight against discrimination and work in harmony to piece together a world, which is shattered by hatred.

At this heartbreaking time my thoughts and prayers go out to families of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, along with the family members of the victims of the Orlando shooting and all those who have lost their lives as a result of discrimination.

In a world where time is not guaranteed spend it being kind to one and other because in the end each other is all we have.

Please be respectful in the comments and be mindful that this is a sensitive topic for many.

Thank you and see you soon,
